How we work
Leak Detection First Steps
Before our leak detection engineer arrives, we will first consult with you to define the scope of the task. From this, the engineer will develop a tailored detection plan prior to their visit.
Our standard appointment time is 8:30 AM, though we’re happy to adjust this to fit your schedule. We dedicate each engineer to a single leak detection project per day, ensuring complete focus on your case.
Upon arrival, the engineer will review the details of the brief with you and gather any additional information needed. The process begins with a thorough visual inspection of your property, including a review of the plumbing system. Based on this, the engineer will create and communicate an action plan for the detection process.
Unlike many other services, our engineers are fully equipped with a range of advanced tools such as Thermal Imaging, Gas Tracers, Acoustic Microphones, Endoscopic Cameras, and Moisture Meters. By using these tools in combination, we aim to pinpoint the source of the leak with maximum accuracy while minimizing any disruption to your property.
After the leak is identified, we will discuss the most effective way to access and repair it. In most cases, repairs can be completed the same day, even for leaks under flooring like tiles, laminate, wooden floors, or those embedded in concrete. For more complex situations, such as leaks behind cabinetry, we may need to schedule a follow-up appointment with additional specialists.
Once the repair is completed, we will test the system again to confirm the issue is fully resolved and to check for any additional leaks. If necessary, further leak detection will be performed.
Throughout the process, our engineer will document all findings, including photographs, and compile a detailed report. This report can be used for building insurance claims, including ‘trace and access’ or ‘escape of water’ claims.
At the end of the appointment, payment can be made by debit or credit card, cheque, or cash. You’ll receive a receipt via email, and the full report will typically be sent to you the next working day after a final review.
If the leak has caused any water damage, we can also help with the next steps. Our team includes water damage repair specialists who can create comprehensive repair schedules and cost estimates. For more details, please visit our Water Damage Repairs page.
